Chesham School of Taekwon Do

CLUB HISTORY

The instructor for Chesham is Mr Whitley - 6th Degree, one of the most highly respected instructors in the UK. In order to book your place in his next beginners class please call 01494 778764. Mr Whitley has been training in Taekwon Do for over 30 years and is one of the most respected instructors in the country. Even when training amongst his peers at the annual instructors training event he is legendary. He has taught many people all the way through to their Black Belt so he knows exactly what it takes to get the best for you.

A Brief History of The Chesham Club The say things mellow with age. However the instructor of Chesham Mr Keith Whitley - 6th Degree just keeps getting better and better. With around 30 years of top flight Taekwon Do experience Mr Whitley is now training champions from his home town of Chesham with 2 classes each week.

In this picture to the left Mr Whitley is shown breaking two boards with a jumping back kick at an open air demonstration in Amersham and was taken sometime in the early 1990's. Funnily enough but not only is Mr Whitley still as good as he was then but we're also using the same holder! The back kick was good but you really should have heard the crowd gasp in amazement when he stamped through TWO house bricks - one on top of the other!

The target was set at around five and a half feet in the air. To give you an impression of the height of the kick, the black belt supporting the holder was nearly six feet two inches tall.

Through the years Mr Whitley has had some great successes. One of these is with Gemma Robinson, one of his students who many years ago become one of the youngest ever black belts in the UK at the tender age of 10! Mr Whitley put many hours of training into preparing Gemma for her black belt gradings and she has since gone on to become one of the country's leading female martial artists. Click on the picture to the right to see one of Gemma's Naeryo Chagi's (downward kicks) taken as an article feature for the papers at the time.

Since then the club has gone from success to success. The club has produced some excellent martial artists and black belts but not only that has produced some exceptional competitors. The club always returns from competitions with a number of new additions for the trophy cabinet. Even from some of the newest members who are new to martial arts win medals in their first ever tournaments. That must pay testament to the quality of the training. More about the clubs successes is illustrated in the newspaper articles at the bottom of this text.

If you want to be a true martial artist then there is undoubtedly no better place to train. With classes catering for mixed ages, sexes and abilities then there is absolutely no reason why you will not excel at the Chesham club.
